About This Project
Voices of the Avant-garde is a conceptual design project that explores the visual identities of three influential artists: Grace Jones, Björk, and Nina Hagen. Each artist is known for redefining creative boundaries and challenging conventional ideas of identity and performance.
The project translates their artistic legacies into imagined book covers through two distinct series. Informed by visual research and typographic exploration, one set takes a refined, contemporary approach, while the other embraces a more expressive aesthetic shaped by the cultural context of each artist’s era.
Series 2
Unlike my first series, which was designed to reflect the time period in which these artists were most influential, this project shifts toward a more refined, art-focused approach.
The goal was to move away from historical context and instead emphasize timeless
visual expression.

This second series consists of three covers designed with a more minimal and deliberate aesthetic. Rather than functioning purely as informative pieces, these covers are intended to be displayed as standalone works. Through simplified compositions, restrained color palettes, and thoughtful typography, the designs highlight the essence of each artist while allowing the artwork to speak for itself.
